Molecular Biologist & Patient Advocate
About Me
Hi, I’m Pooja Mukherjee — a molecular biologist by training and a uterine fibroid patient for over a decade.
My journey with fibroids has taken me through multiple treatments and surgeries. Having lived across three continents — South Asia, Europe, and the United States — seeking care in each region gave me a striking, sobering view: no matter where you are in the world, treatment options remain largely limited to surgery or hormonal therapies. For patients with severe cases like mine, these options often fall short.
That gap between what patients need and what medicine currently offers is what drives everything I do here. In 2025, I published a review in Frontiers in Global Women’s Health examining some of the major unmet needs in fibroid research, because I believe change starts with naming the problem clearly.
Fibroid Resource grew out of that same conviction. I built this platform to share accessible, science-backed summaries on the topics that matter most to patients, so that no one has to navigate this alone or feel lost trying to make sense of the research. I bring both my PhD and my lived experience to every piece I write, because I believe both matter.
